Campagnolo have been producing the Zonda C17 for quite some time now, and there’s good reason for them being one of the company’s bestselling aluminum rims. At only 1540 grams, as a wheelset it’s respectably lightweight, but is also reliable, robust, and stiff. As one of the cheaper wheels offered by the iconic Italian brand, it’s an excellent choice for long winter base miles and commuting through all seasons.
Lighter And Stronger
For this version, Campy have shaved off 10 grams from the previous version, providing a more responsive ride feel. However, despite the weight loss regime, thanks to the inclusion of a milled rim and the choice of Mega-G3 lacing pattern, this wheelset remains strong and stiff. To further increase the wheelset’s durability, it’s been equipped with an alloy hub filled with steel bearings, meaning they’ll spin smoothly for season after season.
Spoke To Me
The Zonda C17 uses two different spoke counts on the front and rear wheel. On the front, 16 aero steel spokes are used to keep weight down. The rear uses these same spokes, but there are 21 in a 2:1 spoke ratio on the drive side to maximize stiffness.
With this new wheelset Campagnolo have also widened the internal rim width, meaning this version of the C17 is optimized for 25mm and 28mm tires. By fitting a wider tire, you’ll not only have a more comfortable riding experience and more grip in the corners, but also the tire-shape cuts through the air more efficiently.

Tougher than woodpecker lips
I love these wheels and bought them as a companion set to my 45mm carbon rims. I have put about 2k miles on these and they are perfectly true. On vacation over the summer I ran over something that gave me what I thought was just a hard puncture. Had to invoke the dollar bill in the sidewall trick to get home. When I replaced the tire I noticed that whatever I had hit had punched a hole in the inner surface of the rim! About 1/4" in diameter, quite round. The wheels are still true as ever! Thanks Campy!
Campagnolo standard
It's a workhorse Campagnolo training wheelset. Well made, decently light, and just works. Plus, PBK has the best price for these online so it's really a no-brainer.
Fast wheels
Rims on my old fulcrum wheels had worn to dangerous level hence the need to replace. The campag Zondas were well priced, and whilst I lean more to conventionally strung wheels, i have found the arrangement on the zondas gives an excellent smooth and comfortable ride, more than than i expected. Running with 23tyres, which fit and ride perfectly well even though the zondas recommend 25s. Well chuffed with the wheels and Probikekits service.
Smooth & fast
I had the lower level scirrocco wheels for 20k miles and never had to true them. Only 200 miles on these, but they are noticeably quieter and smoother. They may not be as fast as some of the best aero wheels, but they are still improving my speeds by nearly 1-2 mph. My friend has had a pair for 5 years and he is notoriously bad on wheels…but still true and no issues. Looking forward to the bombproof wheels lasting a long time.
Campagnolo Zonda
Really nice wheels. I notice a big improvement in my bike. I also went to 28 mm tires from 25 and I think that has contributed as well. My bike came with Fulcrum racing 7 and I had issues with them so this was a nice upgrade without spending a lot of money.
Good wheels
Saw these wheels at a much discounted price, as a few club mates have these and rate them, I purchased a pair. Put my order in at Sunday evening and they where delivered 11:30 the next morning, super quick service. Only done a few hundred miles on them so far, but as you expect from Campagnolo roll well and quiet too.
Great value and performance
Probikekit shipped promptly to me in Texas. Now what I have is a brand new Campy Shamal C17 front wheel I got on a wicked sale and the Zonda is on the rear. My gruppo is a Campy Chorus/Record mix. Anyway, this wheelset combo replaced my Fulcrum Racing 4 as well as my winter wheelset was a Williams Cycling System 30 (which would spin forever). The new Campys are a dramatic improvement as my average mph on my various hilly or flat courses here in Texas with chipseal roads are faster by 1 to 2 mph!! Pedaling is effortless. I weigh 185lbs and the wider rim width with my 700x25 Vittoria Pro IV Graphene 2.0 tires are quite comfortable. These wheels climb like a Billy goat and crosswinds are no problem unlike the higher profile Racing 4s. Very happy so far with this purchase... and yes,I know Shamal has ceramic bearings and Zonda Rear doesn't. Viva La Campy !!!
These wheels are amazing!
These might be the best alloy wheels on the market at this price. They offer everything you need, stiffness, responsiveness, lightness, quickness. This is a seriously good wheel set.
Comp Zonda C17
Great wheelset for the price. I replaced an old Shimano RS wheelset- Zonda is a bit stiffer and lighter which helps with the power transfer. The wheels are sturdy and take abuse well - I ride on Oahu where once you leave Honolulu you wish you were on a gravel bike… so far it’s been great.
